Getting the basics right is a large part of the solution in maths
A report in the Guardian today says that many post 16 courses in maths are not testing enough. A key part of the solution must be to get the basics right by ensuring that students are consciously competent in Functional Maths so they have a solid basis on which to build.
Ofqual reveal AO market share
Sometimes what appears to be the dullest report turns up something really interesting. In the Ofqual annual review there is a detailed section on ow the 240,000 Functional Skills qualifications ave been distributed amongst the Awarding organisations.
My reading would suggest that Edexcel are very pleased, AQA are not, OCR and C&G are neither happy [...]
